Overview
Mateo C. Dayo, IV is an attorney at Jimerson Birr, where he started as a summer clerk in May of 2022. Mateo’s work involves business and contract disputes, real property litigation, creditors’ rights, post-judgment collections, fraudulent transfers claims, and unfair trade practices claims.
As a student and attorney, Mateo has sought out opportunities which have led him to every corner of the state of Florida and beyond. Mateo earned his bachelor’s degree, cum laude, from the University of Florida in 2019. He moved to Massachusetts to get his Juris Doctor degree from Boston College Law School.
During law school, Mateo took on leadership roles by serving as the President of two student organizations and Officer of a third. In his first year, Mateo was elected by his classmates to be their section representative in the BC Law student government. Looking to expand his legal knowledge to the international level, Mateo joined the BC Law International Jessup Moot Court team, which was one of just 12 American teams to make it to advanced rounds in 2022.
Mateo has a passion for trial and appellate level advocacy. He worked as a judicial intern for the Honorable M. Casey Rodgers at the Northern District of Florida in Pensacola. While in Boston, Mateo took a position as a judicial intern for the Honorable O. Rogeriee Thompson at the US Court of Appeals for the First Circuit.
Mateo grew up in Sarasota, Florida and was raised as a Pittsburgh Steelers fan, even getting the opportunity to see his team play in Super Bowl 45. He moved to Jacksonville in 2023. In his spare time, Mateo enjoys unwinding with a good book or video game, visiting new places and spending time with family.
