Overview
Kimberly Killian Law brings eleven years of experience as an insurance company in-house attorney to Jimerson Birr. She is an experienced insurance executive, having served as general counsel and corporate secretary for Main Street America Insurance, a billion dollar super regional property and casualty insurance company as well as Vice President of Legal for Olympus Insurance Company, a Florida homeowner’s insurance company. She is a strategic leader with a successful history in managing legal teams, advising senior leadership and c-suite executives, and overseeing matters involving corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, regulatory and compliance matters, vendor contracting, labor and employment issues, and managing litigation and legal matters in the insurance industry.
Ms. Law is the Banking and Finance, Insurance, Franchising and Technology Transactional and Corporate Work Group Lead and is also focused on providing corporate legal services to small and mid-sized businesses that do not have their own legal teams. Prior to working in-house in the property and casualty insurance industry, Ms. Law was a commercial litigator focusing on complex cases. She represented banks, financial institutions, insurance companies, and corporations in a variety of matters. Her many years of experience as an insurance executive and a commercial litigator makes her uniquely positioned to advise businesses on a wide range of legal issues, such as providing analysis on corporate structure issues, delivering governance advice to c-suite executives and boards of directors, helping regulated industries navigate compliance matters, developing vendor contract management processes, examining and developing records retention policies, preparing intercompany service agreements, and more!
Ms. Law was born and raised in Tallahassee, Florida. While she grew up going to Florida State football, basketball and baseball games, she chose to leave Tallahassee to attend undergraduate school at the University of Richmond. At Richmond, Ms. Law was a member of the synchronized swim team and helped start the women’s water polo club. She graduated with her Bachelor of Arts degree with a focus on Sports Management. After college, she moved back to Tallahassee and attended law school at Florida State University College of Law. She was a member of the Jessup Moot Court Team, president of the Tallahassee Bar Association Student Division, consistently made the Dean’s List, received the Book Award in her Church and State class, and graduated Cum Laude.
Ms. Law currently lives in Jacksonville Beach with her husband Jonah, daughter Katharine, and mini goldendoodle Hermione. She enjoys spending time at the beach, watching FSU and Penn State football (her husband’s alma mater), and watching the Tottenham Hotspurs soccer team. She also loves to smoke meat on her Big Green Egg and make charcuterie boards for friends and family. She and her husband are avid Dave Matthews Band fans, having attended their concerts in four different states as well as Cancun. Mexico!
